An excerpt from Sarah Palin’s RNC speech…

And in April, my husband Todd and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig. From the inside, no family ever seems typical.

That’s how it is with us.

Our family has the same ups and downs as any other … the same challenges and the same joys.

Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge.

And children with special needs inspire a special love.

To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters.

I pledge to you that if we are elected, you will have a friend and advocate in the White House.

We need one, that’s for sure!!!!! I am tempted to vote for them just because of that promise.

One question that has surfaced in response is whether Palin will be able to adequately parent Trig while being Vice President. Hello!  Most of us parent our special needs kids and still have jobs, families, and the rest of life to live. She is blessed because she has a spouse, a supportive family, and she will have lots of logistical support in her day-to-day life.  There is no doubt that raising a special needs child is demanding and often overwhelming. But sometimes that is because we lack support.   And Trig will no doubt have his very own secret service agent to help watch out for him, lol! I say more power to her!!!
